Shantele Elmy was employed by the law firm of Jerold T. Coon, P.C. from 2011 until 2015, when she and Jerold joined to create Coon & Elmy, P.C.. In 2021, Shantele took over the firm and created Elmylaw, P.C..
Shantele Elmy received her law degree from Washburn University in 2001. While at Washburn, she participated in the Washburn Law Clinic as a certified clinic intern. She also worked at the Kansas Bureau of Workers Compensation, Fraud & Abuse Unit. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan-Flint and an M.S. from Grand Canyon University.
Shantele has practiced in several different areas of law including probate and estate planning, divorce, social security disability, and now bankruptcy. For the past 10 years she has represented individuals in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. She is admitted in both the Eastern District of Michigan and Western District of Michigan.
Shantele is a member of the Board of Directors for Legal Services of Eastern Michigan as well as a pro bono attorney for LSEM and the Access to Bankruptcy Court project.
Personal
Shantele Elmy was raised in Saginaw. After graduating from Washburn Law School, she returned to Michigan to begin her career. She has practiced in Saginaw and Midland, and currently resides in Midland County.
Shantele is active in the community as a volunteer pro bono attorney for Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, board of directors member, and a Red Cross Volunteer. She is a former Saginaw CAN Council volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).
Shantele is an avid sports fan, especially U of M football and basketball, Detroit Tigers, and Kansas City Chiefs. She spends her free time gardening and traveling.
